The Bean

The Coffee Bean has a long and interesting history and today is most commonly referred to as simply “the Bean”.

It was the first café established on the Balmain peninsular and has remained in business since its establishment in 1978.

Craig is the current owner and most of the regular customers have remained loyal to the business with many new ones now established. Never a week goes by when a famous face or a colourful local identity doesn’t drop into the Bean for a coffee.

Craig has created an environment that reflects his personality and his love of music and vintage films. He has always been passionate about music and the playlist in the Bean reflects his diverse and varied tastes – there really is something for everyone.

Much the same can be said about the food. It is all created and prepared inhouse with passion and flair by  talented chefs.

The specials are changed regularly to keep the menu interesting and fresh but there are always the old favourites to tempt you back for more.   Whilst the café’s name reflects the coffee culture of our local village it really has grown well beyond a place to get a delicious dose of caffeine.

These days it’s about the quality and variety of the whole menu and the excellence in service the team strives to give all their customers.
